The Ramblers Association now have a greatly improved website which is an exceptional rescource for all walkers, hykers and young families wanting to go for walks with young children. This site lists everything from historical walks to guided walks and really audious walks.

Find A Walk Near Me by Walking Britain is a truly excellent and free resource. Just enter where you are or where you would like to walk - and print out directions. The walks are graded and you can buy a specific map of the area at the same time. These are proper OS maps and weather proofed if required.

I always think of walking as one of the few activities you can do for free - and now you can with this guide!

The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks..

WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We have been twice in 2 years and would come back again! The mansion is so much fun and the Sherlock Holmes trail was very challenging - 4 of us aged 22 - 60 had to really try hard at the clues! Beautiful trees, flowers and all very well kept and clean! Animals to see, a tiny train for kids (and a couple of 20 year olds!) and a cute little cottage to walk around the outside of. The restaurant was great for us, veggie burgers and chips - yum! Soups, jacket potatoes, quiche, etc and lovely cakes! Seriously, try this place if you can, you won't regret it!

Absolutely brilliant day out for kids and big kids. Found the adult trail actually challenging and the mansion challenge such good fun. Going through the tiny hidden doors really adds to the fun! Restaurant was great, simple well cooked food staff were all friendly and helpful. My only regret about the whole experience was not allowing a whole day for it.
